Today is 24th of March & it's Sunday, which means tomorrow is MONDAY - BACK TO WORK.

I have something to share with the girls, women & ladies. Recently, I had a conversation with the colleague on women health issues that need us to do check up every year - such as Mammogram, Pep smear and others. From what I know/study, the check-up is to keep us updated that we are healthy and not diagnose with any serious illness.

I ask the mother on her opinion if I should go for a Mammogram this year since I just got married and she mention that I should do it after a year of marriage. Therefore, I met up with my female doctor from Medina Medical and check with her on the Vaccine called CERVICAL CANCER Vaccine.

“In the world, 1 women died because of cervical cancer every 2 minutes,” Dr. Laila

So why does CERVICAL CANCER concern us, the women?

The cervix is the lower part of the uterus (womb) (diagram). Cancers that arise in the cervix are potentially curable if detected in the early stage hence early detection is t the key to improving survival.

My doctor was telling me that girls/women are advised to take the vaccine from the age of 9 to 26. As we were talking and she realized that I just got married, she went " Syafiqah, you should have taken the vaccine before you got married. But nevermind, its ok. You can have it now"

I was like - Umm! Doc I was just merely asking about the vaccine since I am curious about it and I am not intending to take one, not at that moment cause I am not prepare. YES! I need to have mentally & physically prepared to get myself an injections. I HATE INJECTIONS okay!

My Doc just get up from her chair and took the vaccine out from nowhere and tadaa, the image of the way she hold the injection still lingers in my mind. Before she even poke it on me, I went "OH MY GOD! Doc! Are you like gonna poke the entire needle into me" Of course I was already chattering as I speak.

& the most funny part was the way she reply is like a mother to a daughter as to not fear about getting needles into your skin/body.

"Ya Rabbi Ya Rasul, mesti la inject everything inside so all the vaccine runs through you body. Alright, now fold up your sleeves and...."

That moment, if I could turn my head 360'deg and not watch it as she inject the needles in me, my doc went " OK! I'm going to do the injections for you. Bismillahirrahmanirahim, Allahhumma Solli Ala' Sayyidina Muhammad - OK! done!"

I on the other hand goes "huh? Done? So Fast."

HAHA! Yes, that's my experience of getting my FIRST CERVICAL CANCER Vaccine.

I was definitely proud of myself that I went through such a dramatic moment of getting a vaccine injections after 10 years and that's NOT the end. You need to get 3 VACCINE in total. After your 1st injection, the 2nd one will be a month later. and the last one should be about 5-6 months after the 2nd injections. You need to complete all 3 jabs within that year.

Some may wonder how much it will cost and do I need to fork out a lot of money for the vaccine.

FRET NOT! We are able to use our MEDISAVE and it cost $400 for 3 jabs at Medina Medical Clinic. I think it cost slightly expensive if you get your jabs at Raffles Medical - about $20 more. I am not sure though.

Alhamdulillah, I have survived my 2 jab. My last jab would be during the period of Hari Raya and after which, I AM DONE WITH INJECTIONS!

To my girlfriends out there, get consult with your doctor about Cervical Cancer. It's best to protect ourself now, before we regret it. If you are shy as to ask male doctors, you can go to Medina Medical Clinic located at Tampines St 21, near Al-Azhar Foodcourt. She is the best FEMALE doctor I've ever known. I refer to her whenever I have issue with women health that's affecting me.

I hope this entry answer to your curiosity of Cervical Cancer.

Get Yours Now as I have mine.

Salam Sisters.
